Das Silicon Valley, das schon immer zu den teuersten Wohnorten der Vereinigten Staaten zählt, umfasst das Gebiet von Santa Clara mit den Städten Palo Alto, Menlo Park und Mountain View, in denen viele Unternehmenshauptsitze angesiedelt sind.

Die Führungskräfte der Tech-Giganten wie Google oder Uber gehören zu den reichsten Menschen in dieser Branche, wie ein Ranking des US-amerikanischen Wirtschaftsmagazins «Forbes» zeigt.

Vermögen: 66,31 Milliarden US-Dollar: Mark Zuckerberg ist dafür bekannt, in seinem Zimmer im Studentenwohnheim der Havard Universität den Social Media-Riesen Facebook gegründet zu haben. Im Jahr 2014 verlegte er den Sitz des Unternehmens nach Palo Alto. Heute wird Zuckerberg stark wegen der anhaltenden Probleme seiner Webseite im Hinblick auf gefälschte Nachrichten und den Datenschutz kritisiert.
